Yoga for Equines and Humans
by Farah DeJohnette

Farah DeJohnette Blog

Next week July 19th, Kate Perna and I will be doing our first ever Yoga for Equines and humans clinic at Ohana Farm.Since I have acquired Ohana farm, I have had been able to set about planning and collaborating with like minded people to create new, fun learning experiences that will further your journey with your horse, yourself and your horsemanship. This clinic will allow Kate and I to bring Yoga principles and ideas not just to our bodies but to our mindset and our horses. We will start with unmounted exercises that will get our mind body connection strong before moving on to work with our horses in my version of Yoga for Equines inspired ground work and then moving into keeping that mind body connection while mounted.A lot of the ground work we will focus on  with the horses will be Dressage infused Yoga Integrated movements with our horses.

You will learn to read and gently increase your horses suppleness, relaxation and Mind/Body connection. This ground work seeks to help you learn to help your horse.

Indian Hackamore

The Potato Special

Congrats to Potato Richardson on his win at the Tevis Cup ride 2015. Using his Indian hackamore design we make at Buckaroo leather.

(pictured below and above)

This very unique bosal is called an “Indian Hackamore”. It is gentler than a bosal.  The nose is flat instead of round. The chin portion widens and narrows to fit most any size head. The action is most like riding with a halter but with more communication and control.

The ends that connect to the reins are crossed so when you pull on say the right rein the pressure goes under the jaw and around to the opposite side to bring their head around to the right. There is a breaking in period for the area under the chin to soften up and shape to your horses head.

We offer 2 styles- an all natural braided rawhide -recommended best quality and performance- (picture below ) and an All Leather Hermann Oak Harness designed by Potato Richardson (pictured above). 1 1/2" wide on noseband with soft fleece lining and comes with headstall hanger strap.
