By now most probably know I think outside the normal box . Hear me out……. I get a handful of special horses in that need a lot of help. Often they are in big trouble by the time owners reach out to me with rearing, bucking, bolting etc., deemed “behavioral horses”. Once we get them in and start working with them, and listening to hear the answer the horses let us know what they need. Often they are actually quite sensitive and require quicker reflexes or different tack or different
expectations. Some have physical limitations that have compromised their current training and need modifications. These horses are my absolute greatest teachers. They have a lot to teach us all about communication and basic needs. About timing snd how most horses realistically are 15x’s faster than the average human. Kodie is one of those special ones, and I have tried a few things differently with him to help him be comfortable and successful in what he is working on. I decided to try going
back to my oldest roots of western theory’s and try a Bosal. Yesterday was our 3rd ride in his new soft nose bishop bosal custom made by
Buckaroo John at
Buckaroo Leather Products . Excellent customer service . Thank you John for redoing and fitting the nose piece for this guys adorable squishy Irish face. This is a 12 plait 5/8" Vaquero
style bosal, nose is very supple soft glovey braiding for no chafing. I love the turquoise accents and Herman oak brown leather! One of my favorite features tho is the Bishop headstall hanger and,was inspired by Justin Reichert of Kansas. This is a very unique hanger headstall for any bosal. It loops on to any size bosal. The straps slide through the top crown piece to fit small to large and under the throat slide is a barrel button for adjustment to fit. The top crown piece is a hand basket
arrow stamped and has a soft chap lining. Here’s to many more experiments and fun in the saddle! Have a great Tuesday peeps. -Meghan Hamilton
